Cotton is a natural fibre valued for its breathability, softness and durability. Comfortable across a wide range of climates, it is one of the most widely used fibres in clothing and can be woven into fabrics ranging from crisp poplin to soft jersey.

Corduroy is a woven fabric characterised by raised vertical ribs known as wales. The ribs are formed by a cut pile, giving the fabric a distinctive ridged surface that can vary from very fine to very broad. Needlecord is the fine-wale version, while wide-wale corduroy has fewer, broader ribs.
