Flannel is a woven fabric with a soft brushed or napped surface that gives it a slightly fuzzy appearance. The raised fibres make it softer and warmer-feeling than an unbrushed woven fabric and give it a generally matte appearance. Flannel can vary considerably in weight and is commonly used for shirts, trousers, pyjamas and cold-weather clothing.
