Notes on composition

Ecojilin is a viscose fibre made using pre-consumer cotton linters, a by-product of cotton processing. Developed by Jilin Chemical Fiber, it uses recovered cellulose as the raw material for regenerated viscose fibre. Ecojilin is recognised for incorporating recycled cotton-derived material into the production of viscose.

Notes on fabric

Chiffon is a very lightweight woven fabric with a fine, smooth surface and a sheer, airy appearance. It is soft and fluid, with very little body, so it falls easily and moves with the wearer rather than holding a defined shape. The surface is generally even and slightly translucent, with a delicate appearance that can make colours look softer through the fabric. Chiffon is often confused with georgette because both are lightweight and sheer. The main visual difference is the surface: chiffon is relatively smooth, while georgette has a noticeably grainier, pebbled texture. Chiffon is also softer and more fluid than organza, which is crisp and capable of holding volume. The fabric became particularly associated with eveningwear and lingerie during the twentieth century, as its transparency and fluidity made it useful for creating soft, layered silhouettes.

Notes on brand

Founded in Antwerp by Dries Van Noten, the brand is known for its sophisticated use of colour, prints, textiles and historical references. Dries Van Noten graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and presented his first menswear collection in 1986, later becoming one of the designers associated with the Antwerp fashion movement. His work is particularly recognised for combining refined tailoring with expressive fabrics and unexpected visual combinations.
