Raffia is a natural fibre obtained from the leaves of raffia palms, particularly species of the Raphia genus. The fibres are long, flat and relatively flexible, making them suitable for weaving, braiding and crocheting. Raffia is commonly used in summer accessories, bags, hats and decorative details and has a naturally straw-like appearance, although it is botanically distinct from straw.

Founded in New York in 2016 by creative director Catherine Holstein, KHAITE is known for polished womenswear that combines traditionally masculine and feminine elements.
