Ecojilin is a viscose fibre made using pre-consumer cotton linters, a by-product of cotton processing. Developed by Jilin Chemical Fiber, it uses recovered cellulose as the raw material for regenerated viscose fibre. Ecojilin is recognised for incorporating recycled cotton-derived material into the production of viscose.

Notes on fabric

Jacquard is a woven fabric in which patterns are created directly within the structure of the fabric rather than printed onto its surface. The technique can produce intricate floral, geometric or abstract motifs, with the pattern often visible from both sides in different forms. Jacquard fabrics can be smooth or highly textured and can vary considerably in weight and drape depending on the yarns and construction used. The name comes from Joseph-Marie Jacquard, whose early nineteenth-century loom made it possible to control individual warp threads and automate the production of complex woven patterns. His invention transformed textile production by making elaborate designs much easier to reproduce than with earlier hand-operated weaving methods.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2016 by sisters Margaret and Katherine Kleveland, DÔEN draws heavily on vintage American and Californian references. The brand is known for romantic, feminine silhouettes, nostalgic prints, delicate details and an emphasis on natural fabrics. Its early identity was closely connected to a collective, female-led approach to the business and creative process.
